Butyl Reclaimed Rubber

AIC Rubber is a pioneer butyl reclaimed rubber manufacturer in Pakistan that makes reliable reclaimed butyl rubber sheets. The process follows strict quality control for uniform quality parameters. Each lot manufactured is rigorously tested for its chemical composition and physical properties, ensuring the quality of the end product is consistent. Besides manufacturing its butyl rubber compositions, AIC has an excellent track record of delivering reclaimed butyl rubber according to the client’s specific composition and physical properties.

Manufacturing Process

AIC uses pure isobutylene isoprene reclaimed from the inner tubes. Where most reclaimed rubber manufacturers use boilers for butyl rubber processing, AIC adopts a proprietary method of advanced desulfurization, making the entire process extremely environmentally friendly. No chemical agents or compounds are added during its processing. Strainers of different mesh sizes are also used to filter the rubber twice for optimum results as per customized requirements.
Strict process control and on-time calibration result in a consistent product with the lowest amounts of PAHs, impurities, and heavy metals. Consistent production with controlled process parameters has enabled AIC to achieve REACH compliance, as the process is compliant with ISO 9001, 14001, and 12461 standards.

Here’s a brief of the manufacturing process at AIC:

Collection

Reclaimed butyl rubber tubes are purchased in bulk and sent to our scrap processing facilities. We have established a collection and logistics department to carry

Sorting

Metal valves are removed from each reclaimed butyl rubber tube and the lot is sent to the washing station.

Washing

The tubes are thoroughly washed with clean water to remove non-rubber material. To curb water wastage, AIC uses a sophisticated system where the water used in washing is filtered and reused again.

Shredding

The washed tubes are dried completely and are shredded for further processing.

Grinding

Industrial granulators turn the shredded rubber into granules, increasing the surface area and making it easier to reclaim.

Extrusion (Desulfurization without chemicals)

The reclaimed rubber granules are fed into the extruders for vulcanization.

Straining

The rubber is strained to remove heavy particles.

Filtration

Different mesh sizes are used (depending on client requirements) to remove impurities and increase the rubber's plasticity.

Sheeting and Cooling

The treated reclaimed butyl rubber is then passed through a final process of kneading pure rubber into compact sheets. The sheets are fed into our state-of-the-art cooling system where it is either cooled by a water bath, air cooling chambers, or both, as per client requirements. Blower fans on conveyor belts are also placed to cool the reclaimed butyl rubber sheets.

Packing

The sheets are packed with EVa or Pe sheets before stacking them into pallets.

Whole Tyre Rubber

Whole tyre rubber is a blend of synthetic and natural rubbers combined with various additives to enhance durability, strength, and performance. This rubber is engineered to handle the rigorous demands of tire usage, providing a balance between traction, wear resistance, and heat dissipation. Whole tyre rubber is particularly essential in the tire recycling industry, where it is repurposed for applications ranging from playground surfaces to industrial products, creating a sustainable cycle of reuse.

Natural Butyl Rubber

Natural butyl rubber, a high-performance synthetic rubber, is synthesized through the copolymerization of isobutene with a small amount of isoprene. This rubber stands out for its excellent impermeability to air, making it the material of choice for inner tubes and tire linings. Its low gas permeability and high resistance to aging, weathering, and ozone degradation significantly enhance the lifespan and efficiency of tires. Besides its use in the automotive industry, natural butyl rubber is also widely used in the medical and consumer goods sectors due to its non-reactivity and flexibility.

Our Approach

Sustainability Strategy

AIC rubber is striving to become the first reclaimed butyl rubber manufacturer in Pakistan to incorporate environmentally sustainable practices, leading to social development and less carbon emissions. Annually, AIC rubber conducts risk assessments and formulates risk reduction strategies, taking all stakeholders on board. Each AIC manufacturing facility is committed to conserving energy, manufacturing products while being eco-friendly, reducing water wastage, and protecting the biodiversity around the vicinity.
To play its part in reducing carbon emissions, AIC is taking drastic measures to achieve zero carbon emissions and become carbon neutral by the end of 2030. To reach this goal, AIC is developing a carbon-neutral roadmap and carrying out strategic changes in the entire butyl-reclaimed rubber manufacturing process for better environmental protection.
  • Achievements:

Recycling the water used during reclaimed butyl rubber washing and the manufacturing process for minimal water wastage. Implementation of safety guidelines in every AIC manufacturing facility. Regular health checkups and treatments for AIC employees. Hosting employee workshops for professional training, resulting in virtually no accidents or harm to employees.

  • Goals:

Establishing rigorous environmental policies and goals. Use of energy-efficient manufacturing processes that help reduce greenhouse gases. Shifting to the use of renewable energy (Solar energy according to feasibility) Implementing pollutant reduction activities to prevent wastewater pollution. Working on climate change response policies.
